Believe Me...It's No Cupcake

Many times we take our freedom for granted. Quite often, we do not give a second thought to our being able to travel to places of choice, eat at our favorite restaurant, go to see an exciting movie, or engage in many of our other enjoyments. These liberties and freedoms that we assume will be there, can all of a sudden be taken away from you in a blink of an eye---without remorse, without warning, without preparation for the change. At age 57, Miss Veronica experienced one of the traumatic experiences of her life, the time when her "freedom" was taken away from her. She found herself at the mercy of a system that viewed her freedom as nonexistent, whatever freedom she experienced were those dictated to her by others. Believe Me...It's No Cupcake is a memoire of the people that Miss Veronica met and the many experiences she encountered while confined at Alderson Federal Women's Camp, referred to as "camp cupcake". Though categorized as a "camp", Alderson is still a prison that harnesses our freedom and our ability to freely explore life on our terms. Confinement goes far beyond walls, fences, and wires. Confinement of the mind and your basic liberties is never a "cupcake".
