"The Pillow Boy of the Lady Onogoro" is a mischievous and skillfully wrought novel about an imaginary eleventh-century Japanese poet. In the court at Kyoto in the Heian era, Onogoro, poet and concubine of the general Motosuke, has a problem achieving orgasm. So she hides blind Oyu, the stable boy, behind a screen at the head of her bed. While Motosuke makes love to Onogoro, Oyu arouses her by whispering wildly erotic stories into her ear. Oyu's tales also help Onogoro to see her situation under the general's dominion more clearly and lead her to take action.
