In a format similar to the first set, new Volumes 4 and 5 offer approximately 20 new entries, each ranging from five to eight pages in length and five updates ranging from two to three pages in length. Focusing on North American criminals, a few notorious criminals from outside North America are also included. New entries include Ted Bundy (serial killer), Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold (Columbine shooting), Ted Kaczynski (Unabomber) and more. Updated entries include Patty Hearst (Clinton pardon) and Timothy McVeigh (execution). Features include a photo or portrait of the person, birth and death information, a detailed biography, sidebars, approximately 130 black-and-white photos and illustrations, timeline, alphabetical list of all entries from Volumes 1-5, "Type of Criminal" list covering all entries from Volumes 1-5 and a detailed index.
