Jack London - "The Little Lady of the Big House" a novel about two unusual men and the wife of one of them. The life in the big ranch house in California is entertainingly sketched, but the main interest is the tangled situation created by the heroine's love for both her husband and his friend. Not at all suggestive of the Jack London of torture, tempest and sharks, this title might be a chronicle of tea tables and embroidery - if it were linked with the name of another author.
This incongruity, however, but lends piquancy to the story, in which Jack London has for the first time made a woman his leading character.
