Lovasik, S.V.D. introduces Catholic children to Saint Peter and provides an explanation of this important Saints life and mission. St. Peter the Apostle was one of Jesus' closest friends and one of the most important leaders in the early Church. Originally a fisherman named Simon, he met Jesus while working by the Sea of Galilee. Jesus called him to be one of His twelve apostles, saying He would make him a "fisher of men." Jesus gave Simon the new name "Peter," which means "rock," because He knew Peter would have a strong role in building the Church.

Peter had a big heart and loved Jesus very much, but he was not perfect. At first, he was sometimes unsure or made mistakes. One time, Peter even denied knowing Jesus when he was afraid.
