Nepal, where she trekked the Annapurna Circuit; India, where exceptional highs and vexing lows included visiting the most incredible Taj Mahal, riding camels in the Rajasthan desert, and enduring a most entertaining 889-mile second class unreserved train ride from Bombay to Cochin; Zimbabwe, where she survived a day of white-water rafting and a 3-day canoe trip down the Zambezi River among hippos and crocodiles; Scotland, where a leisurely tour through the outer Isles slowed time down; and Northern Ireland, where dodging bombs and ignoring tanks in the streets was a way of life and The Troubles consumed her thoughts.
