This monograph is a full transcription and translation, from the original French and Chinese text, of an account by the distinguished sinologist Dabry de Thiersant in 1863, being the only detailed and comprehensive European description of Chinese equine medicine published before modern times. As such, it is of considerable historical importance to those interested in, or involved with, TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) as it applies to the horse. In it are described over 90 equine disorders and their symptomatic pictures, together with meticulous details of their treatment with traditional Chinese herbal medicines.
