Description

The Heptameron of Margaret of Angouleme is a collection of seventy-two short stories written by Queen Margaret of Navarre, also known as Margaret of Angouleme. The stories are framed within a larger narrative structure in which a group of ten travelers are stranded in the Pyrenees mountains and pass the time by telling stories. The stories cover a range of topics including love, betrayal, and morality, and are written in a style that blends realism with elements of fantasy and the supernatural. The book is presented in two volumes, with the first volume containing the first thirty-five stories and an introduction by the editor, Paul Lacroix (also known as Bibliophile Jacob). This edition, translated by Walter K. Kelly, includes the original French text alongside the English translation. The Heptameron is considered a significant work of French Renaissance literature and has influenced many writers in the centuries since its publication. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
