After graduating from Westminster Choir College, a division of Princeton University the became the first Ministers of Music at First Baptist Church of Atlanta and there developed a fully graded choir program based on the "Westminster Model. After three years of service in Atlanta the Winters moved on the the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to establish the School of Church Music at that institution.
