In September 2023, brothers-in-law Marty and Jim set out on the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route of over 400 miles across northern Spain. They're an unlikely pair - Marty is an artist and free spirit; Jim is an engineer and Type A business executive. But they've been great friends for over forty years, and the two sexagenarians figured it was time for a bucket-list adventure.
What makes their Camino journey different? They're on bikes.
Over the course of two weeks, they experience the highs and lows of the Camino. Inclement weather, failed plans, mechanical issues, and injuries are more than offset by stunning sights, funny encounters with other pilgrims, the generosity of the Spanish people, and the joy of being together on this legendary trail. And while Marty and Jim didn't initially embark on the Camino in order to "find themselves," they took away some lessons that would last a lifetime.
This book is for adventurers, pilgrims, and cyclists, or anyone looking for a heartwarming and humorous friendship story.
