Nature isn't the only lethal force to strike New Orleans in 1965.

In the tumultuous aftermath of Hurricane Betsy, a quieter disaster is unfolding in the city's darkened streets: two powerful crime organizations are locked in a deadly alliance, and notable figures across New Orleans are dying. To the local authorities, the killings seem random-until a pair of unlikely allies emerges to uncover the truth.

Rob Chambers, a former lawyer turned government witness, thinks he's left his involvement with criminal enterprises behind. But what's happening in the Crescent City's shadows will have widespread repercussions if the criminal alliance eliminates its enemies and wins the contract to rebuild the city's levees. Rob is pulled out of witness protection by senior FBI agent Tom Neal to help discover who's behind the bloodshed and secure the city's future.

What begins as a covert investigation turns into a desperate race for survival through South Louisiana, populated by Cajun traditions, mysteries, and secrets as old as the swamps themselves. As the ruthless killers close in, Rob must learn to trust this world where nothing is as it seems. If he fails, an entire city will pay the price.
