Using a partially controlled figuration technique, Lenoir's bright and vaporous paintings leave plenty of room for interpretation
French artist Alexandre Lenoir (born 1992) paints lush, mysterious landscapes on a grand scale, straddling the line between figuration and abstraction. Lenoir masks parts of the canvas with tape then paints above it, resulting in orchestrated "accidents" that allow an image to appear.
