As an economically stable EU member state with a growing real estate market, moderate prices, and an attractive geographical location, Slovenia offers increasingly interesting conditions for the purchase of residential and investment properties.
The acquisition of real estate in Slovenia by foreign natural or legal persons raises a number of legal, tax, and procedural issues. This book provides a systematic and well-founded overview of the relevant framework conditions for EU citizens as well as for third-country nationals.
Among other things, it covers national real estate law, the legal basis under EU law (in particular freedom of establishment and free movement of capital), special features of the real estate cadastre and land registry system, tax implications, and practical procedures from the preliminary contract to the registration of ownership. In addition to residential real estate, commercial and investment-related types of use are also taken into account.
The work is aimed at lawyers, notaries, tax advisors, investors, and anyone interested in the legally secure acquisition of real estate assets in Slovenia. It combines legal systematics with application-oriented presentation, thus creating a solid foundation for cross-border real estate transactions.
