Borrowing geometry from the Concretists and experimentation from counterculture movements, Wiederkehr's colorful oeuvre synthesizes high and low culture
Swiss artist Max Wiederkehr (1935-2008) rejected the art world of his time, instead embracing a nascent subculture. His geometric paintings, comics and other works merge elements of Concrete, Pop and Op art, bridging the gap between the concrete and the Wahnwelten, or "hallucinatory worlds."
