Rapidly growing floods of images and artificial intelligence have made art almost inevitably into a commentary on the illusion of actuality. Jana Schrö der, Peppi Bottrop und Andreas Breunig present drawings in the Gesellschaft fü r Gegenwartskunst in Augsburg. 20:15 is the title of the exhibition and this book. The three artists share a philosophical approach to their medium: " Our paintings are a response to the given conditions of pictoriality. We are here to deconstruct and ask what images really are." The art historian Christian Malycha questions the three artists, together regarding the exhibition concept, and individually about the evolution of their works. The conversations provide illuminating glimpses into the ongoing discourse about painting's relevance.
