Sophie and Slade, Permutant youths raised in the human world, are drugged and trafficked to the Amazon after a sparring session. A twist of fate sets them free, but now they must survive the perilous rainforest and the jaguar that relentlessly tracks them. On top of that, El Demonio has a buyer lined up, and he wants them back! Dodging his men would be impossible, except that an unforeseen protector shows up. What they discover hidden within the shadows of this paranormal biome is not only shocking but fortuitous. As King Orso's emissaries slog through the rainforest to rescue them, they have no idea this entire adventure is the Creator's plan as the future of the Permutant race clicks into place.
