Asa Blake recently moved to the home of his recently deceased mother. As he's taking a break from the intense heat, he noticed a woman in the forest behind his house. Entranced, he follows the woman. He can't find her. When he tried to make his way back home, he realized he was lost. Nothing in the forest looked the same. He's frustrated and the heat was getting to him. He suddenly noticed a shrub with violet petals. Dark berries grew from it. He reached out to touch it, but a stern voice stopped him.

He saw another woman. He quickly became enamored with her. She tells him some information that sparks his curiosity. This woman is the one who sends Asa on his journey to discover the secrets of Morelle Noire.
