This is the third book of poems by Gentil Saraiva Jr., who is also the author of Seed of Stars and Song of Love Itself.
First stanza of the poem Mother Earth:
"Digging in the hard earth
In search of moist soil
Casting the seeds
Operating in the toil
The production of abundance
That nature provides
To those who weed, fertilize,
Make a firebreak in the fields,
Graft and grow in a greenhouse,
Following the cycle of the rains
That feed the raw sap
And nourish fruits and crops."
