Holy cow Don and Jeff did it again...I picked up Black Sun Eclipse for an expected fifteen minutes, but found myself glued to the pages for two hours. These guys are unparalleled in their technical expertise, realistic scenarios, and thrilling style. If you enjoy military geopolitical fiction, this is your next read. Hooyah!
-Mark Divine, NYT best selling author of The Way of the SEAL and Unbeatable Mind; Founder, SEALFIT
Black Sun Eclipse is an intriguing glimpse behind the curtain of special operations and the unique professionals who do the deed every day around the globe. As a combat veteran and retired SEAL officer, I found myself convinced in the book's authenticity, following every twist, turn, and setback, while marveling at the professional accuracy and energy of the story. In my opinion, Black Sun Eclipse is on par with Tom Clancy's best novels, a whirlwind experience filled with action and suspense until the very last page!
-Marty Strong, Author, In the Shadow of Evil and Kandahar Moon; Twenty-year combat veteran United States Navy SEALs
A tale of authentically portrayed special ops action right down to the last double-tap. Tightly written, intricately layered, and suspensefully paced, Black Sun Eclipse has it all-foreign intrigue, ultimate danger, a wily, determined adversary, and an international team of close-combat pros who are as likeable as they are deadly. With accurate descriptions of all source intel collection, analysis, planning, and mission execution characterized by violence of action, this engrossing work of fiction could serve as a real-world guide for global counterterrorist operations. Highly recommended reading.
-Duane Evans, former CIA Operations Officer, U.S. Army Special Forces, and Military Intelligence Officer;
Author, Foxtrot in Kandahar and North From Calcutta
Don Mann and Jeff Emde strike again with a fast-moving thriller. The Praetorians, a group of combat veterans with unique skills face down the threats of WMD to keep America, and the world, safe. Great character development and tense action will keep the reader's attention throughout the book. An excellent continuation of the Praetorian Series.
-Dj Mallmann, Author, military/CIA thrillers Shibboleth and the upcoming sequel Terraglyph
Black Sun Eclipse is the second book in The Praetorian Series. The initial book, Black Sun Rising, introduced the reader to the Praetorians, a privately funded, independent team of international counterterrorist operators. While the books are intended to be read in order, it is not necessary.
The Praetorians' most capable adversary to date has been Khalid ibn Mahfous Al-Maadi, a medical doctor and professor who teaches biology and genetics at the University of Cairo. Descended from Egyptian political royalty, Al-Maadi is also the cousin of Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri. Determined to make his mark on the world, he started his own terrorist group, Shams Sawda or Black Sun. His nom de guerre is Abu Almawt or Father of Death and his goal is the destruction of Israel. In Book One of the series, the Praetorians disrupted Al-Maadi's biological weapon attack and killed his Palestinian wife and co-leader, Nura. Al-Maadi managed to escape, hiding out with his cousin who was ultimately killed by an American drone strike. Book Two finds Al-Maadi has had two years to plot his revenge-and it promises to be spectacular.
