Tenzin Gyatso, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, has repeatedly expressed his admiration and respect for Jesus, considering him a great spiritual master. He has praised Jesus' teachings on love, compassion, and forgiveness, considering them universal values that are relevant to all people, regardless of their religion.
This book is not one of the countless biographies that have already been written about Jesus. Its overall content is unique and original, with a novel approach in light of the latest discoveries. It is informative, yet never neglects academic rigor. It is an investigation of the environment, relevant facts, the philosophical thought of Jesus, his ethics, and his anthropology. The methodology used is mixed and multidisciplinary: an authentic historical-critical method (without preconceptions, anti-religious biases, fallacies, or reductionism, and with an open mind), that is, in light of the latest archaeological, philological, and documentary discoveries; an in-depth study of traditions; a philosophical argumentative study using the AV (Acceptability-Inferential Validity) framework; and a phenomenological, epistemological, and hermeneutical study.
We will delve deeper into the philosophy of Jesus in dialogue with other philosophers such as Nietzsche, Ricoeur, Kant, Moratalla, Expósito Ropero, Gabriel Marcel, Heidegger, Kierkegaard, Lévinas, Gadamer, Aristotle, Augustine of Hippo, Socrates, Plato, and Thomas Aquinas. Negationist biases and fallacies, as well as artificial constructs lacking factual support, will be highlighted. Miracles and the resurrection will be studied in light of historical testimony, from both favorable and opposing witnesses. Arguments and counterarguments will be rigorously examined, using the AV framework, to identify the plausibility of each.
But the most important aspect for the reader will be the benefit they can derive from Jesus' practical thinking for their lives, whether they are believers or not. Anyone can turn to a spiritual master to live a better, more fulfilling life, with meaning, inner peace, serenity, and tranquility.
