Series Introduction by Yilin Zhong

Exotic Legend

There are four volumes in this series of diaries. The first volume is London Chronicle, having 28 chapters and about 130,000words (Chinese), recording the stories that happened in the first few months of my arrival in London, England; the second volume is Britain Essays, having 30 chapters and 120,000 words, and this part is about my study abroad life when I was studying at a university in the UK; the third volume is Seasons of England, which was written in the university and London, with a total of 29 chapters and about 130,000 words; the fourth volume is London Diaries, which is a fragment of my life in London in the year after graduation from university, with 24 chapters and 120,000 words.
The writing time of the four manuscripts is from June to September of the first year, from September of the first year to April of the second year, from April to September of the second year, and from December of the second year to October of the third year. The whole series has a total of 111 chapters and around 500,000 Chinese words, spanning three years, basically recording the whole process of my study and life in the UK.
I was 25 when I came to the UK. Three years have passed in the blink of an eye and I am now 28. It seems that my youth has also passed. Before 25, I was in Beijing, and after 25, I have been in London. As I write this final introductory text, the dark sky outside the window on April 19th is gradually entering the night in London, and there are noisy cars and pedestrians passing by. Everything is passing by my fingers as I am writing.
In this set of diaries, you will see the old and vulgar love that has been performed countless times in countless literary works, you will see the old and vulgar scenery that has been described countless times in countless novels and essays, and the feelings that I have expressed during countless days and nights in a foreign country.
Yes, this is all about this series. I am ashamed to say that I spent three years writing it but now I can't find a suitable word to accurately describe or summarize it. Maybe there are too many things I want to say, so I don't want to say anything. You may now open the title page of this book, start from the first chapter, and slowly read it to the last page. Reading this series requires time, a lot of your time, quiet, relaxed, serene, unflappable time, and peaceful mood. This is a book written by my youth, which tells the real life and legends I once lived, though I know that the last person to read it will not be me.
