Hanshan Poems of Keith H. Emmons: The Poet's Journey

This vibrant, sometimes profound, sometimes irreverent, often humorous collection reveals the second half of Emmons' lifelong production of over 650 Hanshan Poems-a chronological memoir-diary, unexpurgated, as-they-were-written series of his poetic-spiritual life from 1970 to 2025. This volume reveals Emmons' internal life and his external circumstances after a decade of living anchored away from shore on San Francisco Bay during the Houseboat Wars; his focus on living in peaceful non-harming awareness and the natural redwood environment of Muir Woods; and his revival following divorce leading to a reinvigoration of his lifelong spiritual search. He graduates from Diamond Mountain Buddhist College in the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona, meets his Spiritual Partner, and enters with her into their three-year three-month and three-day silent meditation retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. This volume begins where Volume I left off: halfway through Emmons' and his Spiritual Partner's multi-year silent meditation tantra retreat.
