Goldmine Nuggets: After a few challenging years during which my wife and I stopped going to church, we eventually tried out a new church on Easter Day 2018, which is now our home church. We meet in a modern, mixed use building in Walsall, called "The Goldmine Centre". I was encouraged to begin writing poetry again and by the end of that year I published a short book and called it "Goldmine Nuggets" to acknowledge the sense of my value and worth that church has given me, and to suggest that the poems in this collection are gems or nuggets of wisdom and insight in their own right. I hope you find that to be true!
These are poems of observation, heartbreak, love, guilt, forgiveness, warning and hope. Love is at the centre of everything we think or do, even if unacknowledged. Our experiences are enhanced when we have a personal relationship with the one living God, through Jesus Christ.
Prism: is a short book published in 2023 during a period when I was recovering from an eye operation. I had to keep my face buried in a pillow or cushion for a month, (my wife says it was two weeks not four, but it felt like a month!), with just a 10-minute break once an hour; 10 minutes for bathroom and hunger needs! My wife scribbled down my muffled utterances during my incapacity until I was able to sit up and review them into some semblance of order.
