Black & White Portraits of Life: Poetry and Photography

In a world dominated by complexity, relentless speed, and endless distractions, there is something profoundly moving in the simplicity of black-and-white photography. Stripped of color, it removes the noise and compels us to confront the raw, unfiltered essence of life-honest, pure, and timeless.

These photographs, captured two to three decades ago, reflect an era now passed. The decision to share them wasn't driven by technical sophistication-they were, after all, taken by amateur photographers. Yet, they hold powerful stories, each frame a testament to a time when photography demanded patience, deep observation, and genuine connection. Paired with poetic reflections written for each image based on my personal bond with the subjects, these poems are preserved in Farsi alongside English translations. They transport us to a time when photography required deliberate thought and an intimate bond with the subject, in stark contrast to today's instant snapshots taken on smartphones.

The absence of color and the imperfect quality of these older images, accompanied by handwritten Farsi poems, have been intentionally preserved in their original form to invite you to pause, reflect, and see beyond perfection.

Most of these photographs were taken in the vast, breathtaking deserts of Iran, inspired by my fascination with the region's unique architecture and culture. These images weave together stories of life, hope, and dreams. Amidst the ruins, one can trace the silent yet vivid aspirations of people, as intricate and beautiful as the timeless patterns of Persian carpets.

In our fast-paced world, may this book offer a meditation on life, urging us to truly see-not just look; to listen-not just hear; to connect-not just pass by; and to pause and reflect-rather than rush ahead.
