The hottest months of a desert summer were interrupted on June 5, 2020. That evening, a dry storm dropped a lightning bolt into the western cliffs of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, AZ, igniting what would become a 48-day mountain wildfire called Bighorn. Author Claire Vimala Anderson began documenting and reporting on the fire and its progression from that first day. This book is a photographic account of her personal experience of this captivating event and its profound effects on the mountain landscape it consumed.
This is the third in a growing series of photo art books the author has created. 'Desert Song' was the author's first attempt to share her experience of the Sonoran Desert surrounding Tucson. 'Mountain Song' continued that chorus with a selection of favorite portraits of Mount Lemmon. 'Bighorn Song' brings the experience and beauty of a mountain wildfire into a form that can be shared by all.
