About Artistam

"Artistam" is a quarterly series of books published under the supervision of an esteemed editorial board. Each issue consists of two main sections:

  • Articles: Covering various themes relevant to contemporary art.
  • Artists and Their Works: Introducing selected artists and showcasing their creations.

The initial focus of the series is on contemporary Iranian art and artists, with plans to expand to feature contemporary artists worldwide in future editions. The featured artworks are chosen through:

  1. Open Calls: Artists are invited to submit their works based on specific themes and mediums.
  2. Evaluation: Submissions are reviewed by the editorial board and guest judges to ensure quality and thematic relevance.
The Theme of This Issue: EarthEarth is the cradle of life, composed of soil, water, air, and fire. In Abrahamic religions, soil is not only the beginning but also a symbol of return and eternity. Humanity was created from soil, and in a sacred cycle, humanity returns to it. In Iranian mythology, Mashya and Mashyana were born from "Rhubarb," a plant rooted in the earth. Across various cultures, soil represents continuity, birth, and the beginning and end of life-a simple yet profoundly meaningful element of existence. Ceramics, pottery, and glass art are ancient crafts formed by combining soil and water and perfected through the embrace of fire and air.In the second issue of Artistam, we welcome works that embody the secrets of soil through colors, forms, and textures. We invite artists, researchers, and writers to share their interpretations and creations on the concept of soil, its role in ceramics, pottery, and glass art, and the aesthetics of this eternal element. "In this issue, we return to our roots."Autumn 2024 EditionAfter evaluating the submitted works, the jury selected 30 artworks and collections from 13 artists to be featured in this issue. This season, we proudly present:
