Gramercy Park: An improbable love story in Manhattan: A Novella

Brigitte (Bridey) Farrell is the oldest child in a farm family from County Leitrim, West Ireland. She comes to New York to work and secures a job as a domestic for a wealthy family living in a townhouse on Gramercy Park. Every day she dusts, and each time she cleans the framed picture of the family's only son on the fireplace, she falls a little more in love with him. When he arrives to celebrate Thanksgiving with his father and sister, he finds Brigitte extraordinary and tells her so, which begins one of the most remarkable and improbable love stories in Manhattan, New York, after WWII. She rises to become the highest-paid model in America while understudying roles in Eugene O'Neill's plays on Broadway, eventually meeting the most famous actor in New York and Hollywood. The entire story unfolds in letters back to her family in Ireland.
