Meet Bill the Abilities and all of his special ability friends. Bill teaches about special abilities through a child's view in a series of books. Bill helps other children understand friend's special abilities and how kids can be friends. In each book, Bill introduces a new friend and teaches the reader a basic definition of the friend's abilities. This book series allows young kids to understand inclusion in the classroom and develop an empathy and understanding of abilities. The Series will include a variety of abilities for other kids to learn about. Some of them include: Type one Diabetes, ADHD, Physical Disabilities, Non-Verbal kids/Autism, Anxiety, Food Allergies etc.
Bill the Abilities was created to help young children understand in a simple language what disability their classmates and peers might have and how they can be friends with them. Gretchen Lippincott is a primary teacher for 19 years. She has a diverse population of students in her classroom and has always wanted a book series that helps teach kids about disabilities in a language that young kids can identify with and understand. So, she created Bill the Abilities book Series. She was able to partner with her neighbor, Lisa Lough, who is a graphic designer to create the artwork for the books.
