Over the years, I have listened to my parents and numerous family members tell stories about generations of ancestors and friends. Their reflections and vast experiences inspired me to write a book about my family, the Labats. This book would interest my family and anyone interested in South Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida history. The stories I share are presented within a historical context of the formation of the United States of America and represent a significant place in the history of people of the four-state region along the Gulf Coast.
