In her 2019 bestseller, Dr Aziz predicted the world would be defined by a unique global legitimacy crisis in the 2020s. Norms in geopolitics, politics, economics and society would continue to be challenged, yet there would be no consensus. If it is not a US-led world anymore, who's in charge of the international system? If democracy is weakening, is there a better system to replace it? If globalization is failing some, is populism the answer? If liberal values are in decline, will xenophobia dominate? Dr Aziz argued that tech had already worsened all aspects of this unique global legitimacy crisis. But she also offered hope that in the future tech would be creatively leveraged to be part of the cure. In FUTURE WORLD ORDER: 2025 Edition, Dr Aziz revisits her original predictions, noting what she got right and wrong back in 2019. Reflecting on Trump 2.0, she reflects deeper into this decade to predict what else may be ahead. This updated edition aims to serve as a guide for all audiences to make better sense of the world at this sensitive global turning point. And it encourages readers to be more activist in shaping their future.
This book is the first in Dr Aziz's trilogy on global risk and future trends. Next is A GLOBAL SPRING: Predictions for the Era of Disruptors (2025) and 10 SHOCK EVENTS BY 2030 (2025). Her other books include seven-time award-winning The Global Kid: A Political Comic Book (2016) which she drew and its VR/AR version (2021) which won ten awards; she is also working on the generative AI-assisted political comic book about global extremism, Evolution (2025).
