The UK NHS is amongst the best healthcare systems in the world. However, it has faced several challenges in recent years. The Commonwealth Fund, a US think tank that ranks the healthcare systems across eleven developed nations has ranked the UK NHS fourth in its latest ranking, falling from its previous number one ranking.
The UK NHS has grappled with a lack of consistent and incremental funding. Areas that need to improve include health outcomes, cancer care and mental health provision. I discuss some of these challenges and share my own experiences. I also share my vision for change.
The NHS needs to become more efficient, and it requires greater involvement from NHS workers, policymakers and the public. I share what we can all do to improve the NHS.
This book has taken a year to write and brings a lot of evidence-based research to the various topics. A percentage of all profits from the sale of this book would go to the NHS in ways that directly benefit patients.
