A fallen tree lay crookedly across a leaf-strewn stream.
The silence - soft as moonlight.....but of starlight, not a gleam.
Here...deep inside the forest...it was dismal, damp and dark,
but life was good, - and enclosed in wood - like Noah in his Ark,
George the longhorn beetle, absent-mindedly chewed bark. So begins this epic tale of murky goings-on amongst the creepy crawlies invisibly inhabiting our woodlands and (mostly) minding their own business.
