This is the fourth in a series of books about the Trump phenomenon
and the rise of a power-mad, right wing theocracy in America. The
very thing our democracy was supposed to be a bulwark against.
Whether it's a flaw in our character or just another chapter in the
eternal struggle between our better angels and our demons, it
turns out that fascism can happen here. Whether it does
remains to be seen, but the fact that we are having this conversation
is indicative of the severity of the problem.
With Trump, we found the worst person in the country and gave him the most
important job on the planet. But no one had to vote for him.
Ultimately, the problem isn't Trump. it's us.
