It is true, but unfair, to say that petiscos are the Portuguese equivalent of tapas. True because it is the case, but unfair because Portugal has its own cuisine of which it can be justly proud. Petiscos may be simple or complex and vary from a nibble to something quite hearty. It is undoubtedly the case that anyone who enjoys making and eating Spanish tapas will be keen to try their hand at petiscos. The only downside is that some of the ingredients may not be as readily available as their Spanish counterparts, but with a little improvisation, an acceptable compromise can be reached.
Bom apetite!
