The collection of essays include thoughts about my grandchildren as they navigate life's twists and turns. Their ages range from 2 to 9 years old. Although it is likely I will not be around when they reach adulthood, the wisdom, if it can be called that, is my way of providing a little help.
Other essays deal with conflicts I have with my church and how this rigiidty is pushing me and young people away. I am Catholic and my crisis is not with faith, but with how leaders telling me how to think and act.
The challenges to our democracy is real. The mean-spirited inteactions among neighbors is disheartening. Also, part of these essays is the disregard for the principles established by our founders. I questiion if these hard-erarned values mean anything anymore.
