Flora has had to travel from one village to another as she's had her 'gifts' become known, and has never felt settled -- till she comes into the home of the Thompson family, . Here she finally finds a sense of security and familial love that she has always wanted. Now, just when she feels she is in a good place, a Monk calls her out as a witch and threatens all she holds dear.
Her new family decides to seek safety with her, and they leave to find the mountains and other family there. She has to leave the young man who has claimed her heart, and it almost breaks with the knowledge she doesn't know when she'll see him again. Running from superstition and hatred, will Flora and her family ever find a settled and 'normal' life as one 'gifted' with the heart of the storm?
