In the graveyards of 1870s Cincinnati, William Cunningham is a veteran resurrectionist, making a living supplying cadavers to the city's medical colleges. With age and illness catching up to him, Cunningham takes on an unlikely new partner-Charley Keaton, a dockworker desperate to support his sister and niece. But as the city cracks down on grave robbing and rival ghouls vie for control, Cunningham and Keaton must stay ahead of watchmen and vengeful families determined to keep their dead buried.

What begins as a macabre trade soon spirals into a deadly game when a wealthy socialite's body goes missing-twice. As tensions rise, Cunningham's past collides with the present as the law closes in.
