After writing my first book, But God: A Journey of Pain, Purpose, and Resilience, and then my second, Dad, Where Are You? I Just Want My Father, I found myself standing at the intersection of lived experience and untold stories. These two works opened the floodgates to deeper conversations-ones that exposed not only the wounds of absence and survival but also the quiet ache hidden behind a man's strength.
It was through these reflections that this next piece of work was birthed. When Strength Needs a Shoulder is more than a book-it's a necessary demonstration of the weight that many men silently carry. It is a cry from within, a spotlight on the invisible load often worn like armor, hiding the emotional, spiritual, and mental exhaustion behind stoic expressions and silent endurance. While I am deeply grateful for the women-mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, friends-who earnestly seek to understand the heart of a man, there is still so much more to uncover. So much more to hear, to hold, and to heal. Because you would be surprised how many men have shoulders that feel weak beneath the crushing weight of responsibility, expectations, and unspoken pain.
But instead of speaking up, they retreat. Instead of crying out, they cry in silence. This book is for the man who has been strong for so long, he doesn't remember what it feels like to rest. It's for the woman who wants to better understand the emotional depth of the men in her life. It's for every person who believes that even the strongest among us need a place to fall apart-and a shoulder that won't collapse beneath the pressure. I hope these pages unveil mysteries, offer insight, and speak the words many men have been afraid-or unable-to say aloud.
If even one silent heart feels seen, and one woman is empowered to love, support, and minister with greater compassion and awareness, then this work will have served its purpose.
Let's begin.
