I joined the Army a few days after my 18th birthday, 1967.This book is my story of 3 years of military duty during the Vietnam war. 1 year of training, 1 year as an infantry squad leader in Vietnam and 1 year active duty after Vietnam. This is not a book about endless combat. It's about a teenage Sgt. trying to do the right thing under impossible conditions. Vietnam wears you down, it burns you out and it's always with you, even 54 years later. It's there, just below the surface. That's what this book is about.
