The war is past. For the inhabitants of the Sanctuary, life continues. Galen Carroll and his wife, Linara, set off on a long-anticipated holiday across the ocean during the summer of 1948. Yet their well-planned journey traversing the continent, one intended to be half pleasure, half business, is undeniably accosted by other forces when a horrible accident leaves them stranded in unknown territory; while back home in Brescott, the status quo has altered.
