My last day as an elected public official. I served as a County Commissioner for over 14 years in Franklin County, Ohio. I was thinking of the work I did for county residents. I loved helping our residents get what they needed, and it was a King Solomon decision to make. I was balancing family caregiving issues. Finally, with the pandemic, I lost the balance. Family took priority over work.
The issues I address in this book were ones I struggled to address for many years. I hope you gain understanding of how an "outsider," someone who has never fi t into the world around. them, can make a difference in someone's life or in a community or workplace.
This is my story.
"Some people lead with wisdom. Others with heart. Marilyn Brown does both-with purpose, courage, and a deep love for people and community.
Marilyn has spent a lifetime championing equity, health, and dignity-especially for those too often left out of the conversation.
From her decades of public service to her tireless advocacy behind the scenes, she has helped shape a stronger, more just and compassionate central Ohio.
The ripple effect of her work continues to amplify what's possible-and she's full steam ahead, advancing critical reforms and showing up for the people who need it most. I'm grateful for her mentorship and friendship.
Thank you, Marilyn. Our world is better because of you."
