Literary Littles Elementary Fiction Curriculum

Delve into five core elements of literature through illustrated story cards, discussion questions, and writing activities. Designed to equip parents and teachers in the creation of a rich literary environment, these family-style literature lessons may be used as a stand alone literature class or as a rich literature supplement to a broader language arts program. Book lists provide direction in choosing the highest quality literature, and the Morrie's Stories lesson cards provide a concrete and inviting way for students to approach abstract concepts. Lesson variations for diverse age and skill levels make this curriculum ideal for the family-style homeschool setting, as well as for classrooms with a differentiated educational model.

Students are introduced to five essential elements of literature:

1. Main Character
2. Story Structure
3. Conflict Types
4. Setting
5. Theme

Additionally, students will learn the basic elements of rhetoric through a casual, discussion based approach. Students will:

1. Observe elements of a story
2. Synthesize observations
3. Assert a claim
4. Defend the claim with evidence

Beginning writing exercises will teach students to write paragraphs with our unique P.E.A.R. model. Students will learn that a paragraph should include the following parts:

1. Point
2. Example
3. Analysis
4. Review
