Catalina Cahoots

Sparky's latest adventure takes her island hoppin' to Catalina, off the coast of Prohibition-era Southern California, and being that our preteen super-sleuth is involved, neither Hollywood nor murder can be far behind!

A film is being shot on this island paradise, and one of the movie people, whom nobody likes, winds up impaled on a castle spire. Was it in fact murder? Or, merely, an embarrassingly terminal accident? True to form, the ever-resourceful Sparky must narrow down the suspects, who are as numerous as they are wacky.

The usual stable of downtown characters is truly coconuts and back in full force: silent-film star Tootsie LaFemme, Marigold, Whisper-Whisper, Bobby, and the formerly meek Gilbert, aka, the Goblin, who also tries his hand--or rather, iron fist--at directing this time around. Can Sparky figure out the culprit before anyone else gets deep-sixed? And will the island be safe again for tourists? Or will paradise be lost forever?
