Two observers, a hundred years apart, gazing at the sky from the same vantage will relate their observations in different ways, even if both experienced equal awe and humility. The sky did not change, the observers changed. The sky is an evocative sign of God, just as so much of the Quran consists of evocative signs of God. Therefore, any rendering of the Quran, or any comment in any words other than its own Arabic words is at best a perspective. The Arabic Quran has not changed, but the perspective of its contemplators has changed. The Arabic Quran, because it is a living guidance, accounts and provides for changing times. This translation is worth a try if you want to include a contemporary perspective in your study of the Arabic Quran.
