When children are taken, you must call for Todd.
In the Shadowed Forests hiding just behind the horizon of human society, a lone shapeshifter stands sentinel, guarding the weaker denizens of the forest against outside intruders. A druid who takes on the form of a grizzly bear, Todd has long abandoned any delusions of a life of normalcy outside these woods -- but when a fellow shapeshifter's children are abducted in the night, only Todd is capable of the speed and ferocity needed to bring the cubs back before the human hunters that have taken them escape the forest.
In hot pursuit of the outsiders, Todd quickly finds she has more to contend with than simply tracking her prey: seemingly random memories of her past life -- of her own former family and friends -- begin creeping up from below, attempting to cloud her judgment and trap her inside her own regrets. Coupled with the threats of other bloodthirsty beasts and trickster spirits of the forest who challenge her at every turn, Todd may be as much at risk of losing herself and her sanity as the lives of the children she's attempting to save.
